The 7 Types of NRIs

Indians take their colourful attitudes wherever they go. Find out the 7 types of Indians at heart who live abroad!

#1 The Amplified Indians

Their Indian-ness is in your face. They will insist on wearing pyjama-kurtas and drop a Namaste here and there because they want to gel in and make sure they are a part of the deal. Indians are not this Indian.

#2 The "Back in USA" Indians

Everything they say starts and ends with "but back in the US this is how it happens", casually letting it slip wherever possible that they living the American dream.

#3 The Angreji Bachaas

They are the first of their family to get culture shocked. These kids are not Indians (they prefer the term Indian-American). They accent somehow quadruplets when they come to visit.

#4 The Calculative NRIs

These are mental currency converters. They'd tell you the value of something faster than "bless you" after you sneezed. They're also the nice people who insist on paying the Rs. 600 bill since "It’s just $10"

#5 The Shocked Ones

They will express shock and amazement on everything from seeing a McDonalds in India to "You have wifi!" Yes and we also have buffalos on roads because we hate to disappoint you.

#6  The Super NRIs

Its just been six months since they left the country but in just their first vacation back home they have an accent in place and are as amazed to see the country as their firangi counterparts. These are the ones you had actually dropped to the airport in the check shirt and brown trousers but are now back in a baggy jeans and tees cause their new life has to be in your face.

#7 The Best Cousin In the World

That cousin who shares a lot in common with you and you can count on him/her to send you cool stuff. Thanks to this cousin, you had all your Apple products before anyone else in India!

*sends long distance flying kisses*
